Jack (17) is coerced into stealing a car by his bullying father. When the theft goes wrong, he flees into an urban woodland. Ashamed and out of control, Jack is also battling a rising rage that threatens to consume him.
When Jack stumbles upon a forest ranger with a 4×4, he sets his mind on stealing the vehicle. But as he is drawn into the ranger’s world he is given a glimpse into a completely different way of life from that which he knows. Jack is given the opportunity to step up and be a man, using his strength for a positive purpose. This experience challenges his attitude to the ranger, his father and his own growing powers, and leads to a confrontation which will leave him changed.
With magic realist symbolism running alongside a social realist story, this film shows a boy on the brink of becoming a man, and having to decide what kind of man that will be.
